Validate phone numbers in Salesforce Flow
Flow has no built-in way to tell whether a phone number is valid for its country or to put it in a standard format. NumberForge adds two Apex actions to Flow Builder: NF Process Phone validates, formats, and optionally enriches one value, and NF Find Phone Numbers extracts numbers from free text. Both run on Google libphonenumber inside your org.
NF Process Phone
Add an Action, filter by Apex Action, and pick NF Process Phone. Pass the phone value and, optionally, a default region, an output format, and which enrichment to return.

Record-triggered pattern
- Run NF Process Phone on the phone field.
- Add a Decision on
Status:VALIDor anything else. - On
VALID, use Update Records to save the Formatted Value. On the other branch, flag the record, notify the owner, or block the save.
The action only returns values; it never updates records by itself, so the flow decides what gets saved.
Screen flows
Check the number a user enters on a flow screen before moving on. When Status is INVALID or
NEEDS_REGION, show the Message output and ask for a correction or a country before
the flow creates the record.
Find numbers in text
NF Find Phone Numbers scans one text value, such as a case description, a note,
or an email body, and returns each match with its position, formats, region, and number type.
Leniency controls how strict matching is, from POSSIBLE to
EXACT_GROUPING.
When you do not need a flow
If the goal is to validate and format a phone field every time a record is saved, a field rule in NumberForge Configuration does it without building a flow, with per-field region, format, and validation mode.
Questions
Can I stop a record from saving when the phone number is invalid?
Yes. Without Flow, set a NumberForge field rule to Block save. In a record-triggered flow, branch on the Status output and use a Custom Error element; in a screen flow, show the message and keep the user on the screen.
Which countries does the Flow action support?
Every region in Google libphonenumber metadata. NumberForge currently ships libphonenumber v9.0.42 and tracks upstream releases.
Do I need a license to use the actions in a sandbox?
No. Sandbox orgs are free. Production orgs need a subscription, with a 7-day trial.
